Part 1
Vordea and Eigengrau were sitting in the middle of the frozen tundra north of Faenluna, discussing recent events. Eigengrau wasn’t mad at her for once, either.
"She was really dead?" Eigengrau asked, her face and tone expressionless as ever, but hiding curiosity behind the mask.
"You sound surprised, Eigen. I don’t like that." Vordea answered, still sitting in a meditating pose. "But yes, stone dead. Her soul was even inside the Amulet of the Corpse King."
Eigengrau betrayed no emotion but inside her head the wheels were already turning. "Somebody wished for something badly enough that the Amulet heard it, and she was the person they cherished most."
Eigengrau stood up and began to pace. That Amulet doesn’t work that way. What actually happened?
"Whatever the reason, if I hadn’t been there, they would have found her dead." Vordea said, narrowing her eyes. "You told me yourself her death date isn’t for hundreds of years yet, so what the fuck happened?"
"An anomaly. I have only encountered one other mortal like this in this kalpa." Eigengrau answered, stopping her pacing. "Syndra longed for Tarron so greatly that she willed herself to death. A mortal with a broken heart. Giving her a child of Tarron is the best thing you have ever done in your long life."
"Intriguing, but I only did it on a whim. What does Sirene think of this?" Vordea asked.
"My apprentice?" Eigengrau asked, confused.
"No. Sirene." Vordea clarified, tapping her head. "I want a third opinion on these events."
"Ah. A moment."
Eigengrau clapped her hands together, creating a small divine casting circle around her feet. Her body shimmered as she transmogrified into her other self, Sirene Ignitis.
"I'm just as confused as you are, Vordea." Eigengrau answered after the transformation was complete. "I've seen Syndra's death, I walked to it. She shouldn't have been dead when you found her, only gravely injured."
"Is it a meddler?" Vordea speculated.
"Could be. We might finally need to talk to Narin."
"You think Narin might have done it?" Vordea asked.
"No, I think Narin might know what could have." Eigengrau answered. "We just need to bait him out with a big juicy bundle of time magic that isn't my own."
Vordea and Eigengrau planned for some time in the desolate tundra before eventually leaving.
