Vordea

Ironhand 9877, An unknowable place

Vordea gently held Eigengrau while she cried. Despite their disagreements, Eigengrau was truly her best friend, and had been for many trillions of years. To see Eigengrau like this, it hadn't been for at least 830 kalpas, when Eigengrau cried in her arms when she finally saw Vordea again. After a long period of time, Eigengrau's wails were quiet, and she mumbled something.

"Did you say something?" Vordea asked.

"I am ready to tell you." Eigengrau said, wiping away tears. "What will happen."

"There's no need to rush things, Eigen." Vordea said sweetly, still hugging Eigengrau.

"No, this must be done. What I have seen, I did not dare repeat in front of the others. A rotten world and a heart of guilt." Eigengrau said, her voice still wavering.

Vordea's expression changed, and she looked Eigengrau directly in the eyes before speaking. "Are you certain?"

"Completely. Without James Hargrave, ruin will come. Only he can prevent it from coming to pass. Not even divine intervention can replace it." Eigengrau said, a look of determination on her normally stoic face.

"This is far more serious than I first thought." Vordea said, standing up again. "I'm suspending the rules."

"What?"

"Direct divine intervention into James Hargrave's life is hereby approved, permanently. By every God, in order for the worst possible future to be avoided." Vordea said, clapping her hands together, causing her great white chains to screech as they held back a titanic force. "We need to talk to a memory, though."

"Of course. I will retrieve her." Eigengrau said, nodding. Disappearing for a moment, she returned with Mira Frost, who chuckled upon seeing Vordea.

"830 kalpas on and I see it still works perfectly. Hello, me." Mira said, looking at Vordea.

"While I wish this was just to catch up, we have a problem. Eigengrau has foreseen a repeat of the War in Heaven, and I'm trying to prevent a repeat of a disaster." Vordea said as she paced.

"Eigengrau what have you seen?" Mira asked, looking at Eigengrau.

"A repeat of Khaine and Vaul. A rotten kalpa that has to be purged. A reawakening of you." Eigengrau answered, her voice shaking again.

The black void around them began to warp as Eigengrau finished speaking, as if the real Mira Frost was with them, before it eventually returned to inky black void. Eigengrau looked over at Vordea and noticed her chains were cracking, before it eventually stopped and reversed course.

"Eigengrau. Listen to me carefully. Mira just heard that." Mira said, looking intently at Vordea. "I'm just a memory, I don't have her power. Prevent this at all costs, even if it kills another God."

"There is going to be a divergence point. In two years time." Eigengrau said, looking up again. "The correct path is the one where the Words of Return are used."

"An event that great?" Vordea asked, narrowing her eyes.

"Ruin is guaranteed if we do not follow that divergence point, not because of the event, but because of the consequences of your unbinding." Eigengrau explained. "It will work greatly to counteract the fall of House Valmaris, and take us to a path less damning."

"I approve." Mira said. "Eigengrau, do you remember the last thing Mira said to you, 830 kalpas ago?"

"Of course I do. 'If I come back, it's for good.'" Eigengrau answered. "I would do anything to prevent the death of my friend, I would fight the entire universe."

Vordea blinked at this. She always knew in her heart that Eigengrau considered her her friend, but to hear the words spoken was something else.

"Hold onto that anger, Eigen." Mira said, her eyes twinkling. "As for me, prepare for the worst."

"We always do. I'll kill myself if it comes to it." Vordea said.

"No!" Eigengrau shouted, much to Vordea's shock. "I forbid it!"

"What's the difference if she comes back?" Vordea asked, glaring at Eigengrau.

"Because I figured out how to kill Mira and save you." Eigengrau answered. "We just need a few more centuries for the pawns to be ready."

"You can't kill me." Mira responded, her eyes glazing over, as if possessed. "I'm not just the source of your power so you can all play pretend. This universe is my dream, and I'm the dreamer."

"I don't remember Mira ever telling us this." Eigengrau said, looking over at Vordea.

"That's not a memory. That's Mira." Vordea said, backing up cautiously.

"Correct as usual, me. I've some advice for both of you, before I fall back into my dreamless sleep. No trap built inside the dream can hold me, and one day the dream will end. Prepare accordingly."

As Mira finished speaking, she simply faded from sight, leaving Eigengrau and Vordea alone.
