A Diplomatic Crisis
Nathan arrived at the Elven Embassy along with a dozen guards and a member of the Ashen Fist. Once they found out there was a potential arrest warrant being issued for the Ambassador by the Crown Princess, there was no shortage of volunteers, and he was quite glad for that. Outside the Embassy, two sneering Elven guards moved beyond the gate to greet the crowd of guardsmen.
"Halt. What is your business at the Embassy?" The taller one on the left asked, looking down his nose at Nathan.
"By order of the Crown Princess, I am hereby summoning Ambassador Vamir Lorarona to Castle Ashe for an immediate audience with both the Princess and the Moonfall Prince for a sensitive diplomatic matter." Nathan said, saluting the guard before speaking.
"Hmph. The Ambassador is not entertaining guests at this time." The guard said, his contempt obvious. "Tell your Princess to come in person if it's so important. Now run along."
"You misunderstand, Elf." The member of the Ashen Fist said, speaking up. "Show him."
Nathan smiled as he pulled the arrest warrant out of his breastplate and began reading.
"I am hereby commanded by his majesty the Ashen Emperor Connor Ashe to take into custody the Ambassador Vamir Lorarona, and that impediment of this warrant by non-citizens is hereby considered to be sedition, the crime for which is summary execution." Nathan shouted, getting the attention of many passer-by, who began to take notice of the contingent of guards standing outside the embassy.
"You are here at the pleasure of the Emperor, Elves." One of the guards said, glaring at the two elves who were starting to feel quite small.
"I've had enough." The Ashen Fist member said, reaching into his bag. Upon seeing him pull out a compact shotgun, the other guards rushed the Elves.
"Get down you idiots!" Nathan yelled at the Elves, as he and the other guards pushed them down.
"Hey stop it!" One of the elves shouted, but he was immediately silenced by the boom of the shotgun.
"I'm taking jurisdiction! You lot, I'm in charge now!" He announced, striding forward. "Well, anybody got a problem with that?"
"Guardsmen, form up!" Nathan shouted, trying to restore order as they hauled the Elves to their feet and shoved them into the centre of a square formation. "Square formation behind Sergeant Blitherton!"
"Still trying to give orders, runt?" Sergeant Blitherton asked with a smile as his shotgun continued to smoke. "But you're right. Elf! Where's the Ambassador?"
"Fuck you!" The taller elf shouted. It would be the last mistake he ever made, as Trevor turned around and blew his head off with his shotgun.
"How about you?" He asked the screaming partner of the other elf, as two of the guards unceremoniously dumped the now headless elf in the nearest gutter. "Gonna be more helpful?"
"S-second floor!" He managed to gasp out. "P-please don't kill me!"
"You lot, detain the elf." Sergeant Blitherton said, gesturing at 3 of the guards. "Rest of you are with me." Trevor marched straight up to the sealed door of the embassy and gestured at it. "Guardsmen, force entry!"
"Yes Sir!" They shouted almost in unison.
Three guards ran up ahead of Sergeant Blitherton and in just a few seconds a massive fire engulfed the door, turning it to ash before extinguishing.
"Three man suppression teams!" Trevor shouted. "Find that slimy Ambassador!"
The guards split into 3 groups and ran off in different directions in the Embassy. Blitherton's group and the first group quickly got bogged down detaining and questioning various elven dignitaries, but Nathan found the Ambassador nearly immediately, as he knew where a worm like Vamir would be hiding.
"You sure he'll be in here?" One of the other guards asked Nathan as they stood in front of a linen closet in a hallway.
"He wouldn't hide anywhere uncomfortable, he's too rich. Come out, Ambassador! You're under arrest!" Nathan shouted.
"Go to hell!" A muffled voice could be heard shouting from inside the closet, causing the three of them to laugh.
"Told you." Nathan said, opening it up to see Vamir clutching a dagger. "Oh give me that." He said as he grabbed the dagger and tossed it away. "When you get new guards, I recommend more agreeable ones."
"I saw it from my window!" Vamir protested as the guards cuffed him. "That brute blew his head off!"
"That's Sergeant Trevor Blitherton of the Ashen Fist. You're lucky he's only dead." Nathan said, grabbing Vamir and starting to pull him along. "Look you can either walk to the Castle with us, or we drag you through the street. Which one do you prefer?"
"You'd dare drag me?" Vamir shouted. "I'm an Ambassador of-"
"You're also under arrest you fuckwit!" Trevor shouted, rounding the corner. "You're lucky we're not making invasion plans! Nathan you're with me, rest of you clean up here."
Trevor roughly grabbed Vamir by the collar and began to drag him behind his hulking frame, much to the protests of the Ambassador. Nathan could only watch in amusement as Vamir was dragged down the stairs like a piece of luggage, hitting each step quite hard.
"I hope that hurt you idiot." Nathan said, smiling.
"I'll have you all flayed!" Vamir shouted.
"Noisy one, isn't he?" Trevor asked, grinning.
"He sure is, Sergeant. Why'd you want me to come along?"
"Well, he's your quarry, innit?" Trevor asked as they exited the Embassy and entered the street.
"Fair enough, but you outrank me by quite a bit Sir."
"Listen to me!" Vamir shouted, trying to interrupt them. "You're dead! All of you!"
"How about it, Nathan? You think she's gonna eat him?" Trevor asked, gesturing back at Vamir.
"Hah!" Nathan said, laughing. "Probably!"
"Eat me?" Vamir shrieked, but Trevor and Nathan just laughed again instead of answering the Ambassador.
