Part 2

Eigengrau wasted no time, and immediately went to Vaust's Inn, dragging Sirene into the same time reference as she did so. When they arrived at the Inn, it was late afternoon, but Eigengrau seemed unconcerned by the number of mortals present.

"Apprentice." She said, pointing at the kitchens.

Sirene nodded, and they walked into the kitchens, being seemingly ignored by everyone present. When Eigengrau entered the kitchens, she tapped Vaust on the shoulder.

"The room, please." She stated to him.

Vaust didn't turn around, but nodded his head, followed by Sirene and Eigengrau falling through the floor, into a room with no exits and a pair of comfortable chairs. Eigengrau shimmered as she walked to the chair, undoing her transmorgify, before flopping onto the chair as Sirene.

"Come on Apprentice, take a seat. You'll want to hear what I encountered." She said, smiling.

"It must be good if you're telling me." Sirene replied, sitting in the other chair. "So, what happened?"

"A time magic using death cult."

"What."

"Right? They were convinced if they used the magic enough that time itself would be ended by me, or some nonsense like that. I stalked them for years, picking them off one by one." Eigengrau said, laughing. "I'm starting to like this torture thing, you know."

"Master..."

"I'm only joking. Besides, I've seen where that path leads with me." Eigengrau responded, laughing darkly.

"...I'm going to ignore that." Sirene said after a pause. "So, can't say I was expecting that."

"Well, neither was I. The kalpa ended before I found out the first time."

"Master, I was thinking all these years." Sirene said, leaning forward. "You're still very remarkably human, despite being tens of thousands of years old, not to mention your weird relationship with linear time."

"I'm the Death God, Apprentice. Every special soul, divine or otherwise, I have to personally collect. I'll bring you along some time, you'll get it then."

"If you say so."

"The one you should wonder about is Vordea." Eigengrau said with a laugh.

"Oh?"

"She's a time void. She has a finite beginning and end, but she's incomprehensibly ancient. The way she tells it, she's the last survivor of the previous universe. She once told me a fear of dying brought her into this universe."

"How often does she tell the truth?"

"Who can say?" Eigengrau said with a shrug. "It's... good to see you again, Apprentice."

"Really?"

Eigengrau leaned back and closed her eyes. The shape was swirling, and she was glad she waited until now to talk to Sirene. It had been too many centuries. She wouldn't make the same mistake in the next kalpa.

"Sorry, I was just remembering something that happened a long time ago. If I can offer some advice before I go?" Eigengrau stood up, and dusted off her cloak. "Suicide doesn't suit us."

Eigengrau blinked out of existence before Sirene could ask her what she meant, leaving her alone in the room with just her thoughts.

"...she knew, huh." Sirene said quietly after a few minutes. Sirene closed her eyes, and wept.
