Part 1
"Are you sure this is a good idea Sirene?" Rebecca asked as they walked through the sickly woods to the east of the Inn.
"Absolutely not!" Sirene replied, smiling. "But we need to see what Liddell is capable of. If you're worried about dying, don't be."
"It's not that." Vicky said, cutting in. "I'd rather not see my flesh rot in front of me."
"Don't be so dour, Victoria." Sirene replied, still smiling. "You're immortal now."
"Easy for you to say. You're still human." Serge said, speaking up for once.
"He does speak!" Rebecca said, laughing.
The four of them continued, until they noticed the trees had completely died away, and then stopped. In the middle of the clearing, surrounded by rotting trees and dead grass, stood the house Yurn had visited Liddell at some time prior. Standing in front of the house was their target, Saint Lidell.
"So, you've come already." Liddell called out to them. "It won't be as easy this time, Sirene!"
"Don't worry Amaranth, I brought friends this time. Let's dance!" Sirene shouted, throwing off her cloak.
Rebecca immediately charged Liddell with superhuman speed, throwing a knife at her knee before punching her in the stomach. Liddell looked down at the hand touching her skin and smiled.
"You made a costly mistake, Dearie." She rasped, laughing. She grabbed Rebecca's hand, and grinned. "Rot."
Rebecca looked down and watched in horror as the flesh melted off her hand, and yanked it away. However, she noticed she was still able to move her now skeletal hand.
"Ugh, a vampire." Liddell said, annoyed. "No matter, the Death God's children don't scare me. Decay!"
Rebecca briefly contemplated hacking her arm off as she watched the contagion spread up her arm, but Sirene intervened.
"Tik!" Sirene said, and the world slowed down as Sirene dashed up to Rebecca, grabbed her, and retreated back to a safe distance. "Come on Vicky, Serge, we're leaving!"
Vicky and Serge looked around for a brief moment, before following Sirene as she ran off into the woods.
"Hmph. Go on, flee back to your nest, Sirene. I'll be waiting." Liddell said, eyeing the tree line.
