Part 2
Day Ten
In the office of a shipping company, an increasingly irate woman was continuing to yell at the hapless staff behind the counter.
"What do you mean you don't know what happened to the ship?" She shouted.
"All we know is it's failed to make port, ma'am. A week behind schedule isn't something to be that concerned about, considering the length of the journey." The manager said, trying to calm her down.
"Something has happened to it, I know it!" She shouted, tears forming in her eyes.
As she was gently led out by the local guardsmen, the two men behind the counter glanced at each other, and one shook his head.
Day Twenty-Five
"Wreckage?" The woman said, her voice quivering.
"I'm afraid so. A ship reported sighting remains of a ship floating in the open sea. A few crates recovered bore the seal of the ship." The manager said, removing his hat.
The woman collapsed to the ground, her wails heard from down the street as she screamed in grief.
The two men behind the counter closed their eyes and lowered their heads. While they may not have been personally responsible, it was still their company's ship her husband had been on.
"You killed him! You killed him!" She screamed over and over.
A passing guardsmen stopped and walked in, and knelt next to her.
"Miss Waters come on, I'll take you home." He said softly.
"They killed him Jimmy!" She sobbed as he helped her up.
"I don't think so." He replied, picking up her hat.
"Of course they did!" She said, continuing her sobbing.
"You think a sunken ship could really stop your husband?" He asked, taking her arm.
Miss Waters looked thoughtful for a moment, even as the tears continued to flow from her eyes.
"You might be right." She said softly, as they walked out.
Day FiftyForty-Seven
"Miss Waters I keep telling you, we can't organize any sort of search mission." The manager of the office said.
"Is it about money?" She asked. "Because I'll pay."
"It's not just the money. Our insurers don't believe any of the cargo to be salvageable so we can't even spend time on it. I'm truly sorry, Miss Waters. I wish I could be of more help."
"No, I understand. Can you at least tell me of someone who might be able to help?" She said, her expression downcast.
"I think I know a ship, ma'am." The other man replied. "The Kraken's Revenge."
