Part 2
Narin and Eva arrived on a deserted road in a flash of light, startling a nearby squirrel, but otherwise uneventfully inserting themselves into a period of history.
"Are you sure this is the right place?" Eva asked, gesturing around. "We're in the middle of nowhere."
"Absolutely. Point me 5 degrees off true north, please." Narin asked.
Eva nodded and did so, and was about to ask why, when he picked up a stone from the road and threw it about one hundred metres into the woods, where it clearly hit somebody as she heard a somebody yell from beyond the tree line.
"Hey! Who did that!" The voice called out.
"Nicole!" Narin yelled out. "Towards the road please!"
Narin patiently waited while a woman in bright green robes with shoulder length brown hair came into view. As she grew closer, she paused and squinted her eyes.
"Narin? Shit! Narin!" She exclaimed, and started running. When she reached him, she jumped up into his arms for a hug. He smiled slightly as he hugged her back. "I missed you, you dumb athex."
"I missed you too, Nicole." Narin said softly, letting go of her. "I want you to meet my other travelling companion, Eva of Carcosa."
"Just Eva is fine, thank you." Eva replied, giving an over-exaggerated bow.
"What is she? She's not alive." Nicole said, gesturing at Eva. "No heartbeat, she's not breathing, but she's not burning up either so she's not a vampire."
"An oddity." Eva said with a smile. "The last breath of a dead universe, a piece of jetsam cast off from the Goddess of Chaos herself."
Nicole stood in silence and contemplated what Sam said for several seconds, before understanding.
"Oh, I get it. Narin I know this isn't a friendly call, so what's up?"
"Not here. My lair." Narin replied vaguely. "Something's wrong with time."
"Something is wrong with time? you had my witfire, but now you have my share." Nicole answered, her eyes gleaming.
"I told you not here, dumbass." Narin snorted, dragging the three of them back into the flow of time.
