Part 2
"So it's decided, then?" Agbus asked as the meeting grew to a close.
"I can't believe I'm agreeing to this." Narin said, resigned to his fate.
"Narin, don't be so dour." Eren said, smiling. "Investigate all of history, find the source of our problems. Don't worry about how long it takes, you have quite literally all the time in the world."
"That's what I'm worried about. How many billions of years, trillions of years could I spend on this hopeless task?" Narin said, snorting.
Vordea made no comment, but only smiled. She busied herself consuming the mountain of corpses, as she prepared for the end of this kalpa. The less time she had to spend at the end of time, the better, after all.
Eigengrau always preferred to look away when Vordea did this. Why did she have to take consuming so literally? The sight of her jaw unhinging like a snake and eating bodies whole would never stop being unnerving.
Narin wondered where he would even start. Though, he supposed, perhaps the best place to start would be the dawn? Eren told him to investigate everything, after all. Eren warned him to not to go to the Dawn, but that almost felt like bait. He glanced over at Eren, and was surprised to see Eren staring back at him.
"You're thinking of it, aren't you?" Eren asked, eyes unblinking.
"Of starting at the Dawn, yes." Narin replied immediately.
"I wouldn't."
"So you've said twice now. Are you going to elaborate, or are you trying to bait me into going there first?" Narin said, snorting a puff of smoke out of his nostrils.
Eren made no reply, and gave no indication that they even had a reaction to what Narin said, and merely slowly faded out of sight.
Sensing that it was all coming to an end, Narin stepped into the timestream, time stream, and began to go upstream, back in time. Since Eren kept baiting him about the Dawn, he decided to go there first, to see what Eren didn't want him to see.
The flow of time grew into a raging torrent as he swam through the flow back to the source. The eddies and currents raged against him, pushing back and trying to prevent him from reaching the dawn, but he refused to give up. When he finally arrived at the dawn, he immediately understood why Eren had warned him, for what he saw shocked him.
