Part 3
The dawn era was a chaotic maelstrom of magical energies, a veritable soup of raw creatia that had yet to be formed into concepts or objects. In the distance, Narin saw a huge black shape that occupied most of the horizon and sky, but was nearly formless, and it didn't seem to end so much as slowly fade away. Slowly, he realized it was moving, but also shrinking.
---
Vordea felt the presence immediately, a soul that did not yet belong. A time mage? How reckless of them, they would soon learn their fatal mistake of visiting the dawn, a place not meant for prying eyes. She started to sever her connection with Carcosa so that she could move, but as she turned her gaze toward the unknown soul, she paused. It was marked. Not just by her, but by all of them. Eigengrau, Agbus, and even him. Something terrible had happened, she had no doubt.
With just a thought, she closed the connection to Carcosa. This took priority over the shaping of the next universe. She sliced off an avatar from her body, and sent it on its way over to this soul, while she sat back in the distance and waited.
---
Narin couldn't see it yet, but he could feel an oppressive psychic field rapidly approaching him. They didn't have killing intent, at least not yet, but they were both angered by him, and curious. Maybe he could still escape with his life intact, he thought. He was not entirely shocked to see that it was Vordea when the field of raging emotions finally came into view, but he was still surprised at how much more aggressive she was compared to his previous interactions with her.
"Dragon soul, why are you here? What has happened?" Vordea demanded, grabbing him by the throat immediately, and lifting him more than a metre into the air. "You yet live only because you are marked, tell me why you have come to this sacred place."
Narin's mind was whirling. Sacred place? He steeled his thoughts, and opened his mouth to answer, but Vordea interrupted him.
"Ah." she said. She gently set him back down, and gave a half smile. "I've felt your memories. Intriguing. You are a fool to have come here. A brave one, but a fool none the less. The source of the problem you seek is not here, now begone."
Vordea plucked a piece of creatia out of the air, if you could call it that, around them, and stretched, pulled, and plucked it until it resembled a portal, before tossing Narin into it. As she was about to close it, she realized she had a problem. The knowledge of those memories would prove to be a later hindrance, so she had to sever this avatar. But what better to do with it than to give Narin a companion? With a laugh, the avatar jumped into the portal, and pulled it closed.
With the strange visitor dealt with, and the memories cast off, Vordea resumed her work. She reopened the connection to Carcosa, and continued the great work of forming the universe.
