Part 5
"Three weeks! It's been three weeks Jack!" Marv practically yelled at Jack across the table, the party eating yet another dinner in The Hanged Man, waiting for Rebecca to return.
"The Boss said to wait a month before making any moves." Heather responded, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I'm bored out of my fucking skull!" Jessie yelled, rocking back and forth on the chair. "Townies are way too poor to scam, and the mages don't leave the grounds. I can't even find a good fuck!"
"Is it dinnerbed time yet?" Jack asked, head in his hands. "I just want to die."
"You're forbidden from dying, Jack!" Rebecca shouted as she slammed open the door of their private room, shocking them all. "My business is finished, it just had some... complications. We're leaving immediately, meet me at the stables!" Rebecca turned and vanished without a trace, causing a stir.
"How did she do that?"
"Since when is the Boss a mage?"
From Hamlin there was no reaction, except a smile. He quietly left to gather Vicky and Serge, nodding to the rest of the party as he ducked through the door.
At the stables, the party was gathered around what looked like a stagecoach, except for the stained glass windows in place of regular glass. Marv was examining the glass, tapping on it. Jack was busy coercing their horses into pulling it, while Vicky, Serge, Hamlin, Rebecca, and Heather were talking inside.
"So what do you call this?" Vicky asked, looking around the interior, which was bigger than the outside of the carriage.
"It's the Sunless Carriage. I invented it nearly 40 years ago, I just never had it built. During the night, the glass is normal, if tinted, glass. At sunrise, the enchantments take over and it becomes a one way portal. You can still see out, but nothing can penetrate the interior. The three of us will relax here in the daytime, while at night the rest of the party can relax in here."
