Part 1
Eigengrau felt it immediately, even though she was nowhere near when it happened. Someone used time magic who wasn't her apprentice. It was an extremely powerful spell too, whatever it was. This alone made her curious, what was risking her wrath so openly worth doing? While she could have prevented the spell from even being cast, doing so takes away the agency of mortals, so she chose to not walk the shape. Soon, the spirits began to whisper, telling her where it happened, and the answer managed to interest her, for it was Port Nautitis in Southern Karand.
She took her time heading for Port Nautitis, as she could simply rewind to the moment it happened, but it was still rather convenient to find someone directly connected to the event as she stepped through the main gate. The problem was immediately obvious, he was practically leaking with the residue of her magic. The other problem was who it was, James Hargrave. Time had become slightly twisted by this event.
Following him closely, she wanted to see if he could sense her. He seemed to act like he was being followed, which made her even more curious. Keeping pace with him, they wound through the city back to Hargrave House, and that's when she saw the source of the issue.
The mansion was suspended in time. It was as if somebody had tried and failed to erase its construction from history, but that wasn't the only issue. The mansion grounds were littered with spirits, with two in particular paying close attention to James, who had just arrived home.
"Neville Hargrave. What happened?" Eigengrau asked, pulling the three of them outside of time.
"Eigengrau!" Neville responded, shocked. "I... I don't know." He admitted. "I remember we were attacked by someone, but then the next I remember, the mansion is in ruins, all of us except James were dead, and it was several months later. We can't even leave the grounds."
"Interesting."
"Lady Eigengrau!" The other ghost said, tugging at Eigengrau's robes. "Please, save our son! He doesn't deserve this!" Tears were forming in her eyes. "Please, I would give up my soul to give him a future!"
"Margaret, do not promise things you have no need to offer." Eigengrau replied, faintly smiling for a moment. "James is much more important than you realise."
