“So how is she, Demeter?” Taenya asked as the Headmaster exited the room.
“Still the same.” He replied, shaking his head. “Alive, but completely lifeless. Whatever Vordea did to her completely shattered her mind.”
“How long has it been now since she left for Luna?”
“About a month now, by my count. She’s deteriorating steadily, only your magic is keeping her alive at this point.” Demeter sat on a chair outside the room. “We might be forced to make a difficult decision soon, but I don’t know if I have the strength to do it.”
“You couldn’t possibly mean?” Taenya asked, shocked. “I would never!”
“I don’t want to do it either, but for whose benefit are we keeping a vacant body alive? Hers, or ours?” Demeter held his head in his hands. He’d known Neptis for so many years, and despite their disagreements considered her a good friend. His thoughts were interrupted by a commotion from outside.
“Demeter, we better get down there.” Taenya said, looking out the window, a look of shock on her face. “I don’t believe what I’m seeing.”
“What’s got you so worked up?” Demeter asked, slowly getting up.
