The Hissing Lobster, Part 4
Mira took notice of the looks of horror from Nalaea and Elias immediately, and turned to look at the other 3 behind her. Seeing the guilty look from Eigengrau, she pounced on it.
"Was she here?" Mira demanded.
"Yes. Turns out she can possess Vordea's puppets." Eigengrau answered, gesturing at Mabel.
"Hmmm, thought you smelled familiar. Don't care who you are, I want the details. Why was she here?"
As Eigengrau and Mabel filled in Mira, Nalaea and Elias whispered to each other.
"She seems different." Elias said, speaking first.
"Yeah, everything is staying normal too." Nalaea whispered back, gesturing around them.
"That's because I'm not her." Mira said, popping up from beneath them with a smile. "I'm a memory. A living puppet that has knowledge of everything Mira ever said to Vordea or Eigen."
Mira looked at Nalaea carefully for some time, and read the entry for her in the Book of Fates. She seemed lost in thought for several minutes, until she eventually snapped her fingers.
"Aha!" She exclaimed. "I understand now! Nalaea, she stirred your soul. It all makes sense."
"Shut up, Mira." Eigengrau said, stopping Mira. "I understand, that's all we need."
"So what do we need to know? More specifically, what does Nalaea need to know?" Elias asked, understanding the conversation was at its conclusion.
"Eigengrau can tell you. Until next time kiddos." Mira replied, drawing a circle on the floor and falling into it.
"So similar yet so different." Eigengrau said, before turning to look at Elias. "It's simple, Nalaea is going to trigger demonic detection runes everywhere she goes."
---
The discussion continued long into the night, as Eigengrau imparted the knowledge of Nalaea's new soul and body into her. Before they knew it, it was morning, and Elias realized he hadn't got even a second of sleep, and was starting to feel the effects of it.
"Eigengrau, I'm quite tired, how are we supposed to make it to Dragonpost today?" Elias asked, yawning widely.
"Do not worry about that." Eigengrau replied. She had returned to her Aspect of Death, and was completely expressionless. "Like so."
In an instant, Elias suddenly felt quite refreshed, and looked around puzzled.
"Do not ask. I will see you around, High Priest." Eigengrau said, turning to leave. She vanished mid-step as she left for another point in space and time.
"I'll go grab lover boy and then we can get going." Mabel said, cracking her knuckles as she went upstairs.
"Maybe you should have gone." Nalaea said as the shouting could already be heard.
"I think not. A man blundering into a room full of naked women?" Elias replied, raising an eyebrow. Crashing noises could be heard as the shouting continued. "Mabel's the best choice, she's the most durable too."
"You can't just call your wife durable!" Nalaea gasped, laughing.
At this point the first half-dressed woman went tumbling down the stairs, to shouts and screams from all parties upstairs as Mabel wrestled with them, tossing them down the stairs one by one. Vaust shook his head and grabbed the mop, he knew it was going to be a long day.
