Part 3
At dinner time, James bid Emma and Jakob farewell, and promised to return the next day, to the delight of Emma. As he walked through the streets of the town, he had a lot of thoughts on his mind. He had no idea his father actually adventured with Jakob Rawlinson, so this was a surprise. The bank certificate was an even bigger surprise, in retrospect. If he had known when he was younger, those 3 years of living in poverty could have been avoided, he thought angrily. As the sun set on the horizon, he got back to the Inn where Harrod was waiting for him.
“James! There you are! How was your day, lad?” Harrod asked, gesturing at him to sit for dinner.
“I made a new friend, her name’s Emma.” James said after he sat down.
“Emma? Emma Rawlinson?” Harrod asked, taking a seat himself.
James nodded his head. “I met her grandpa too.” James replied, taking a bite of his food. “Turns out my father left me a surprise with him years ago.”
“A surprise, huh? A good one I hope?”
“Inheritance.” James said between bites of food.
“Oh?”
“Yeah, he’s going with me to Tel Hazan to get some of it in a few weeks.”
“Haha, you’re turning out just like your father!” Harrod said with a laugh. “I’ll be alright without you boy, just enjoy your trip.”
“I will!” James said with a smile.
