Part 2
First minutes began to pass, then hours. Hours stretched to what felt like days, and they began to get nervous. Was Vordea coming back? Did she forget about them? Where were they, really?
"Hamlin." Rebecca eventually said, continuing to pace.
"Rebecca." He said, not moving from his position sleeping on the floor in a corner.
"Get up, we're leaving."
"How?" Hamlin asked, still not moving.
"I'm a creation mage, Hamlin. The Creation Mage." Rebecca replied angrily. "If we're really underground I'm gonna blast us a tunnel out."
The room groaned and shook as Rebecca hurled her first spell at the far wall. The wall shattered, revealing dirt behind it. She grinned and immediately ran over, picking up a fistful of dirt.
"What is she doing?" Vicky whispered to Heather.
"She's talking to the earth, to find out where we are." Heather whispered back. Heather was about to say more when Rebecca started shouting.
"FUCK!" Rebecca yelled. "FUCK!" Rebecca started punching a piece of still intact wall while yelling fuck over and over again.
Hamlin eventually got up and walked over to Rebecca, picked her up, and held her in a bear hug.
"Rebecca, care to share with the rest of the class?" Hamlin asked.
"We need to get the fuck out of here!" Rebecca said, still squirming.
"Why?"
"We're on Carcosa!" Rebecca said, her eyes full of fear. "That maniac trapped us on Carcosa!"
"Not quite. But good guess." Vordea said, making her return. "I see you've gone and made a mess. This won't do at all."
Vordea snapped her fingers, and the wall was restored to its original condition. She shook her head, and looked around. Some of the food was still left, but the air smelled a bit... stale.
"It's been done. The other God approved it." Vordea said with a smile.
"Approved what?" Rebecca asked, eyeing Vordea.
"You're now the primary owner of your soul. Saffron is wholly incapable of manifesting, and when you die you will go to the human afterlife." Vordea explained, still smiling. "We couldn't give you a new soul, so we carved it up. Well, sort of."
"So does that mean..." Rebecca began.
"The tale of Xilro's bride has ended. Let the ghosts of the past rest." Vordea said softly, snapping her fingers again.
The party found themselves back in the town they found Vordea in, and based on the position of the sun, slowly sinking below the horizon, the exact same time. Hamlin could only smile at the absurdity of the Gods.
"Come on Hamlin, let's go back to Karand." Rebecca said after a moment's silence.
"Right behind you, Boss." Marv said, glancing over at Jack, who nodded.
