Amy Waters
Ironhand 9917, Castle Ashe, Lichfield
Eigengrau was curious. Someone had managed to successfully cast Einsam. She only knew of a handful of mages who had mana pools large enough to use such a reckless spell, so she began to check on them. After going through the entire list, she came to the last person, and was slightly annoyed.
"Of course. Rebecca Ashe. Who else could it be?" Eigengrau said out loud.
Eigengrau quietly walked to the moment in time where it was cast, and was intrigued by the sight. Rebecca kneeling down on the floor of her study, above Amy Waters, with her daughter Verka in tears to the side. Opening the Book of Fates, she went to Amy Waters's name and frowned.
"Oh no, you have far too long to live yet. Approved." Eigengrau stated, and touched Rebecca's hands, which caused them to glow a soft golden yellow.
A few hours later, once Amy was alone, resting in a bed, Eigengrau returned to speak with her.
"Amy Waters." Eigengrau stated flatly, which caused Amy to wake up suddenly and bolt upright.
"Who are you?" Amy asked, eyeing Eigengrau suspiciously.
"I am Eigengrau, Goddess of Death." Eigengrau replied with an open smile, revealing her jagged, shark-like teeth. "And you are my lovely merchant of death, Amaranth Waters."
Amy had doubts for a moment, but they were shattered the moment Eigengrau used her actual first name. She eyed Eigengrau suspiciously, but said nothing.
"You wonder why I am here." Eigengrau stated, to which Amy nodded. "You had a death experience. For nearly an hour, you were dead. You live because it was not yet your time."
Amy was silent at this revelation. She had actually died? No, that couldn't be possible.
"But resurrection magic doesn't exist." Amy said quietly.
"It does not. Rebecca Ashe used a very special spell called Einsam to save you, at the behest of her eldest daughter, Verka."
"Why do you call me a merchant of death." Amy said.
"You know exactly why." Eigengrau replied, still monotone.
"That's not who I want to be. I want to help people, not kill them." Amy said, tears forming in the corners of her eyes. "I don't want to be a murderer."
"What we want and what we get very rarely line up even for the Gods, Amaranth." Eigengrau answered. "But know that the only fate you have is what you make. The only fate is the hour of your death, and not your actions."
"Then I will aspire to something greater, and become unworthy of that title." Amy replied, wiping away her tears.
"Good." Eigengrau replied, and turned to leave. "Show me what you can do."
"I will." Amy replied, as Eigengrau quietly left through the bedroom door, and vanished.
