The Hali
Ironhand 20000, Imperial Dwarven Spaceport
Eigengrau smiled as she entered the spaceport. It was perfect, and while this kalpa took longer than most to discover faster than light travel they still got there in the end, needing no help from the Gods. As she watched ships come and go, she decided the time for hiding was over and unmasked her presence, which seemed to set off alarms.
"Warning: Primal God detected within spaceport. All soldiers to duty stations." The automated voice called out over the loudspeakers.
Eigengrau continued to walk toward the administration offices as port staff gave her shocked stares. Some bowed, some saluted, but all gave her some sort of attention. When she arrived at the central office building, she was surprised to see troops waiting for her at parade rest. Ignoring them, she walked inside, and checked the directory for the Harbour Master's office. Choosing to take the elevator, she rode it in silence.
With a ding, the elevator doors opened on the top floor. She smirked as she stepped out, the Harbour Master was clearly waiting for her, and greeted her with a bow. He was an older dwarf with an impressive grey beard that covered nearly his entire front.
"Goddess Eigengrau, to what do we owe the honour?" He asked.
"Harbour Master Boli." Eigengrau said, smiling warmly. "Faster than light travel has been discovered, has it not?"
"It has, yes."
"That means the Hali must take flight." Eigengrau explained. "Clear sector two alpha one seven, and you will see."
"Of course. Come with me." Boli said, turning around and going through the doors to his office.
Eigengrau followed him into the office. It was spartan, befitting a man of his importance, but most importantly it had access to a transmitter tower capable of broadcasting across the solar system. Reaching the impressive display of screens, Boli brought up the stellar map for Sector 2A17, and saw it was quite busy with ships.
"This sector?" He asked Eigengrau. She nodded. Tapping a few more buttons, Boli then picked up the microphone. "Attention, this is the Imperial Harbour Master. Condition Zero for Sector Two Alpha One Seven, immediate evacuation is required-"
Eigengrau grabbed the microphone from him and cut him off.
"For Transdimensional Insertion of my ship. This is Goddess Eigengrau, my ship the Hali will soon intersect real space in this sector, and you will die if you remain." Eigengrau finished, handing the microphone back to Boli.
"What exactly is the Hali?" Boli asked, as Eigengrau sat in his chair and watched the screens. Ships were starting to exit the sector quite quickly, and it was marked in red to signify that it was closed. "For that matter, what are these gravitational numbers popping up in that sector?"
"The Hali is my personal Starship, Mister Boli." Eigengrau stated, walking to the window of the office and looking up. "As a personal favour to Emperor Thradan Ironhand, I am allowing the Hali to be seen just this once before it sails into the cold dark."
"He was real?" Boli asked.
"Realer than you could imagine. The First Eternal Emperor." Eigengrau stated, still looking up as the spatial distortions worsened. Alarms started to blare from the Harbour Master's computers as visibility through the sector dropped to zero. The alarms were warning of eminent danger of a rogue black hole, which was of course impossible.
---
Far up in space near Lunar orbit, patrol craft were swarming on the borders of sector 2A17. Automated scanning and alarms on the spaceships were warning of the formation of the most powerful black hole yet documented, but with no event horizon, it was being classified as a naked singularity. Naval Command was starting to quarantine nearby sectors as a precaution, and the patrol craft were starting to pull out as well when it arrived. The Hali.
The alarms ceased all at once as the massive ship entered reality, and the eerie silence that followed was profound. Computer systems aboard every spaceship in the universe were suddenly updated with the following information about The Hali. As it hung silently in space looming over the planet, some of the space ship crews began to read the information that was now in their computers about it.
Name: The Hali
Owner: Goddess Eigengrau
Construction Date: Never
Overall Length: 10,000-17,000 kilometres
Top Speed: 0.10c
Power Plant: The Divine Engine
Armaments: None
Shielding: None
Crew: None
Warning: Do not approach the Hali. Effects of its Multi-dimensional structure on sapient minds has not been properly studied.
After several minutes, alarms sounded again as a power spike never before seen was recorded coming from the massive ship, which seemed to flicker and distort even as it sat in the void. Pulling back further, the patrol craft watched in awe as the ship's engines ignited, and it began to move.
---
Back on the surface of Karand, Eigengrau merely smiled as she watched the engines of the Hali flicker to life with an eerie blue glow. As it rapidly accelerated to 10% of the speed of light, Eigengrau turned her attention back to Boli.
"My job here was not to explain anything about my Starship." Eigengrau said, her voice flat and emotionless. "It was to inform you all that it exists."
"What is it?" Boli asked, as he watched it head deep into space on the monitors.
"An extension of my will. It will be continually encountered over and over again for the rest of history. If your society cannot preserve the knowledge I have imparted this one time as a gift, it will be doomed to rediscover that knowledge over and over."
