Queen Valmaris
Ironhand 10115, Ammangoan
The day had come at last as Eigengrau walked through the city gates of Ammangoan, just as she did for Thradan Ironhand more than 10,000 years ago in Tel Hazan. The death of such an important ruler demanded she pay them the respect they were due. The guards saluted her as she walked through the front gate.
"The Queen awaits you in the palace, Lady Death." One of the guards said.
Just as it was with Thradan it seemed, she thought. Nodding, Eigengrau continued her walk through the city. The streets were silent at her approach, as citizens and guards alike bowed their heads as she passed. The city had been rebuilt splendidly in the hundred years since the siege, and she made a note to return later. The elves always built to impress, and she appreciated that about them.
Approaching the palace gates, they swung silently open, and then closed once she was inside. She briefly stopped in the courtyard to acknowledge the statue of Prince Tarron.
"Tarron, I am sorry." Eigengrau quietly said at the base of the statue, leaving behind a single flower made of ice that would later become a source of puzzlement to generations of rulers.
When Eigengrau arrived at Syndra's bedroom, she couldn't help but smile. Even in the face of death, Syndra refused to take it laying down, and was propped up by several pillows in her bed.
"Took you long enough, Eigen." Syndra said, between coughs.
"A great ruler demands I pay them their due respect. I arrived on foot and walked through your beautiful city." Eigengrau stated, as she approached Syndra.
"I go without regrets, Eigen. Come on, let's not drag this out." Syndra said, offering her hand to Eigengrau.
Eigengrau nodded and took hold of Syndra's hand. With a gentle kiss on her hand, Syndra's soul fell free from her ancient body, and stood in the bedroom, hand in hand with Eigengrau.
"Good-bye, Eigengrau." Syndra said, as she faded away from sight.
"Xellma is going to enjoy that one." Eigengrau said with a smirk. She looked around the room one last time and noticed a letter addressed to her. Curious, she put it in her robes to read later, before leaving.
